The flight to Munich was about 7 hours. We crossed 5 timezones though, so we left at 7p, and got here around 8am. Had some awesome airplane food.
Well actually, it wasn’t too bad. It was chicken with orzo and veggies.
I watch Captian Phillips with Tom Hanks. I enjoyed it, not a huge Tom Hanks fan though 😂
Woke up at around 6:45 am, got really crappy sleep.
When we got here, it was about 45 degrees with a high of 60. It was super windy so it was chilly. Safe and sound though. The farthest away from home I’ve ever been.
We took a nap, due to barely sleeping the last 48 hours. We got up at about 3p and went exploring.
We found our first cool church, St. Michael’s.
We also were able to go into the crypt, that had the coffins of kings, queens, princes, and princesses of Bavaria. We were not allowed to take pictures in there though. But they were super cool. It was sad to see some of the small coffins that contained remains of young ones.
Then we saw the outside of the Rauthaus and the glockenspiel outside. We missed seeing it run. Hopefully will see that tomorrow.
After seeing that, we seeked out dinner. We went to the Schneider Bräuhaus, home of Schenider Weisse.
My dad had pork braten- roast pork with a bread dumpling.
I had cordon bleu- pork with ham and edam cheese, plus spaetzle and cheese.
Then we headed to the famous Hofbräuhaus, a huge beer hall.
After this beer, we headed back to the hotel because we were still so exhausted from the long day. Trying to not let the jetlag get to us.
Living statue made me laugh on the way back.
Tomorrow we are headed to Dachau for a humbling, sad, necessary experience. Then hopefully more good food, beer, and fun!
