Today we visited the Schloss Nymphenburg (Nymphenburg Palace) which was the summer residence to the royal family of Bavaria. We only saw maybe 5% of the entire place. But incredible. I wish I was princess.
After we left the palace, we still had hours until our train to Venice left, so we hung out on a bar’s patio for awhile. We had a couple beers, tried a few different sausages, and some more spaetzle (I love spaetzle).
I noticed this cool dragon while I was eating.
We went on a hunt for some traditional Bavarian dessert, and found a bakery with black forest cake and apple pastry.
Once it got close to our train departures we headed to the Munich Central Train Station. We had a couple hours to kill so we got another beer, and then some food to go.
We were sitting at our platform, and then all of sudden, a message rings out through the station. We catch our train details in the midst of the German, but had no idea what they were saying. We watched as other people quickly grabbed their bags and headed for another train. So confused, we had to go ask what was said, turns out our train was not coming to this station, but the east Munich station. The guy told us that we had time to get on the subway and get to that station, so we hauled ass and made our way over there. So much adrenaline. The train was just pulling in when we got there. So yay, we made it. The people we saw get on the other train were getting on a train going to the same stop as ours, but we paid for a sleeper car so we wanted that instead of some random seat. This was our cabin and food we got from train station.
I actually had a terrible experience on the train, complete with feeling claustrophobic, motion sickness, and a panic attack. We both slept like crap, Dad worse off than I. It was pretty unpleasant. I love pillows (I like to sleep at minimum with 2, but I prefer 3 or 4) and to only have one pillow that’s half the size of one pillow I normally use was so uncomfortable. So that was no good. Hopefully our next overnight train ride won’t be so bad.
Off to Venezia!
