After Dachau, we went to a restaurant outside of central Munich. We heard they had really good weinerschnitzel there. Wow we were not disappointed.
It was huge. So good. Crispy and flavorful. Even splitting it, we couldn’t finish it all. We also got some spaetzle.
That was really good too. I’m still just iffy about onions so I didn’t eat too much of it.
After that, we headed back to Marienplatz to visit some of the famous churches in the area. First, we went into the Frauenkirche, which is the big cathedral in Munich.
This footprint has a neat story. You can choose to believe it or not. It is called the “Der Teufelstritt” or “The Devil’s Footprint). The legend says that back in 1468, the architect Jorg von Halspach needed money to build a new cathedral in Munich. He made a deal with the Devil to give him the money to build said cathedral, with the condition being that there would be no windows, so no light can get through and the cathedral would be a celebration of darkness. Once the cathedral was finished, the architect let the Devil come inside to confirm that he did not violate the condition. The Devil was satisfied at first because from where he stood, there was light but no windows. However, when the Devil took a step forward, he saw many windows that had been blocked from his view by columns that Halspach had strategically placed. The Devil was greatly angered by this, and stomped his foot in fury, leaving a black footprint in the floor that has supposedly withstood all this time.

Then we went into St. Peter’s Church. This is the oldest church in Munich and was beautiful inside.
But the real reason we went there was the skeleton of Saint Munditia, the patron saint of spinsters.
She is covered in jewels, and has intense glass eyes that stare out. In her hand, there is a glass that has dried blood inside. Above the glass case, there is a case contianing her head. She is believed to be a martyr from Rome, and she was beheaded in 310 AD.
Then we stopped at the Augustiner beer hall for some beer and dinner.
After that, we headed back to the hotel.
Tomorrow is our final day in Munich before we head to Venezia!
