Day Trip to Milano

Our train to Paris left from Milan instead of Rome so we had to take a train and be there by 11p. We decided to leave Rome in the morning so we could have the day in Milan. We travelled through Tuscany which was beautiful and made me wish we had more time altogether in Italy.

We arrived at Milano Centrale, the big train station.

Then we headed to the big cathedral. We had some fun in the plaza with the pigeons, and then we’re able to go up to the terraces of the cathedral, and then inside.

Not only did I want to see the cathedral, I wanted to see some of the high fashion names in Milan and be sick over the stuff I’ll never afford, so we went into a mall that had lots of big names with prices that made me cry. Someday when I’m rich, I’ll be able to afford a tiny Dolce and Gabbana wallet, maybe. After the mall, we sought out some dinner. One of the other reasons I wanted to come to Milan was to have ossobuco, veal shank, a Milanese speciality. My dad found a place outside of the touristy area that had it for me.

We started with bruschetta and ibérico ham. I noped real hard on the bruschetta, but at least I tried. Raw tomato is gross, no matter what country I’m in. Then my dad had a veal cutlet and I had the ossobucco. The thing that looks like a carrot is actually a bone, and I did eat the marrow out of the center. Buttery, melt in your mouth deliciousness. Then we finished off with cannolis. So good.

After dinner, we went to the train station to wait for our train!

Now off to Paris.
